Virtual Lean Coffee - Focus on HBR Article "The Project-Driven Organization"

In this Lean Coffee Club meeting, we will take a deep-dive into the HBR Article, "The Project-Driven Organization." Antonio Nieto-Rodriguez discusses how projects have replaced operations as the primary engines of value creation in modern organizations. This shift, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, forced companies to rapidly deploy digital infrastructure, reconfigure supply chains, and launch new services at unprecedented speed. To thrive in this new reality, leaders must fundamentally rethink organizational design by breaking down silos, actively sponsoring strategic initiatives, empowering teams to make decisions, and aligning resources with project priorities. The article outlines eight key levers that enable organizations to transition from static, operations-centric models to dynamic, project-powered ones—recognizing that in an environment of constant change, projects are how businesses evolve, adapt, execute strategy, and deliver innovation.
